About “That Chap”
Hi, I am “that chap”, a software consultant, based in London, GB, whose superpowers include simplifying and solving problems, usually with the help of technology, and a few chats over a cup of tea (or coffee in the morning.) Thanks for visiting my website.
Over the past decade and a bit I have worked as a software and web developer, and as a consultant in the data space. Which is perfect as I love learning, self-development, figuring out how things work, and could work (better for more people.)
A pivotal moment for me occurred when I was a student, working a holiday job in a library. I had the pleasure of working with fantastic, incredibly knowledgeable and talented staff who found the software they used cryptic, cumbersome, and unfortunately a threat to their livelihoods during job cuts upon which ‘IT savviness’ was a mandated KPI.
From that point, I have felt a heightened sense of responsibility in my work to not only deliver solutions that match the ‘brief’ but are useable, fit for purpose, and work well.
I write about technology adoption, usability, and general good design be it digital, tangible, or procedural.
